Debby's Story

Debby“I had one polyp, and it’s a huge load off my mind to know that it was taken care of in one step by having a colonoscopy.”

Debby has Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and was concerned that she might be at greater risk for colorectal cancer as a result.  In addition, she was apprehensive that because of her condition, the colonoscopy procedure would prove to be extremely uncomfortable.

“What was particularly reassuring was the fact that Dr. Karowe alleviated my concerns in regard to possible pain with the colonoscopy,” Debby continues.

“He said that he would take some additional biopsies due to the IBS and was very willing to be ‘generous with the medications’ as long as my vitals allowed. In fact, all I remember of the procedure is that they asked me to turn on my side and then I woke up in recovery.

“Dr. Karowe also suggested some medications for the management of the IBS that I was not aware of and said that he would share this information with my primary care physician.”

With one colonoscopy procedure appointment, Debby was able to greatly diminish her five-year risk of colorectal cancer with the removal of her polyp and discover even better alternatives for managing her IBS symptoms.
