Susan Manigold is given a massage at Gastroenterology of the Rockies in Longmont. Nine women came together for a colonoscopy party to help raise awareness among women in Longmont of the importance of getting a colonoscopy for the prevention and detection of colorectal cancer. The women received spa-like treatment before the procedure, beginning with a limousine ride from their home to Gastroenterology of the Rockies. Patients also were given gift bags, robes and slippers. A Center for Disease Control and Prevention survey showed that 70 percent of women keep up to date on their Pap smears and 80 percent on their mammograms, but only 46 percent of women get their colonoscopy screenings.
